Mapping Manager includes everything you need to maintain your own integrated transaction maps. It provides access to the same mapping information used by Transaction Manager to import and export EDI documents to/from your ERP/accounting system.
Token mappings, lookup tables, and line item conversions for importing transactions into Transaction Manager
Token mappings, lookup tables, and header item conversions for transactions that are exported from Transaction Manager
This overview introduces you to the terminology, functionality and navigation of the Mapping Manager toolset.
Before you get started, it would be helpful to understand the following concepts and how they relate to various tasks and functionality in Mapping Manager.
Transaction Manager business system plug-in (BSP) with which you maintain the details of your trading partner relationships. The Projects task page is where you select, view and edit a project, change project settings, add trading partners, and access the maps created for each trading partner.
Integrated transaction map used for the import/export of EDI documents to/from an ERP / accounting system. Maps include field-to-field maps, project-to-token maps for Transaction Manager integrations, and point-to-point mappings for Integration Gateway maps. Access the Maps task page by selecting a project for editing.
A company with which you do business as defined within your project. This can be a vendor from which you buy products or services, or a customer who purchases products or services from you. The Partner Maps grid contains all the trading partner maps that are available within your project.
A set of instructions used by Transaction Manager for mapping between project (business system) fields and Transaction Manager fields. When editing a map, the available partner tokens are included with elements, values and tools on the left side of the Mapping workspace.
A set of field definitions used in the transformation of a given EDI document (purchase order, invoice, ASN) via the import or export process. When editing a map, the available entity fields are included with elements, values and tools on the left side of the Mapping workspace.
Custom translation tables that can be built based on any criteria on a transaction and used in both import and export mappings. New Lookup Tables can be added at any time.
For Transaction Manager and/or EDI-specific terminology, refer to the Transaction Manager User Guide.
Like Transaction Manager, this add-on product leverages the navigation, filtering, and drag-and-drop features of the TrueCommerce Foundry platform.
To access the Mapping Manager toolset, click Mapping Manager under the Menu on the left side of your Foundry home page. Consult the Foundry Platform User Guide to learn more about Foundry login and navigation options.
NOTE If Mapping Manager is not listed in your Foundry menu, contact your system administrator to ensure you have the permission settings needed to perform your work. |
The initial Mapping Manager dropdown menu provides a link to your Projects page. From here, you can select a project for editing and access the maps associated with your project's trading partners.
NOTE Mapping Manager allows multi-user access, but there are locking mechanisms in place to prevent someone from making changes while projects and mapping values are in use by other users. |
Mapping Manager can also be accessed from within Transaction Manager or via the Spaces menu, described next.
The Foundry Spaces menu is a feature in Foundry that can be used to switch between your open Mapping Manager and Transaction Manager task pages without closing either application.
To use this feature, ensure that one or both applications has been opened by clicking the button on their respective menu links in the Foundry Menu. This launches the selected application (if it is not already open) but it also adds a link to that application in the Spaces menu.
When you select a navigation link from this menu, the application page you are switching to will resume at the same place where you left off. The application you are switching from will remain open (suspended in the background) until you switch back.
For more about the navigation options in Foundry, including favorites and quick links, consult the Platform User Guide.
The action bar is the same every Projects and Maps task page you open in Mapping Manager.
